Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the improvement of learning outcomes in IPAS, particularly regarding the topic of spring force, through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with sequential steps of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The first cycle was conducted on April 19, 2023, and the second cycle on May 9, 2023. The research was conducted in a class consisting of 24 students, comprising 9 males and 15 females, at SDN 060907 Pasar Senen, Medan Maimun District, Medan City. The results indicated that the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model effectively enhanced learning outcomes in IPAS, specifically in the topic of spring force, among grade IV students at SDN 060907 Pasar Senen, Medan Maimun District, Medan City. The improvement in learning outcomes was evident through the comparison of test scores between Cycle I and Cycle II, showing an increase in both average scores and the percentage of students who achieved the passing grade. The average score of students in the topic of spring force in Cycle I was 84, with a classical passing rate of 75% (12 students) who attained a score of ≥ 75 (the passing grade). In Cycle II, the average score increased to 87, with a classical passing rate of 92% (22 students) who achieved a score of ≥ 75 (the passing grade).
