Abstract
This study aims to find out what ; 1) the impact of social media on the formation of social identity in Generation Z, 2) the transformation of social values in the era of globalization, and 3) mental and emotional challenges in social interaction of generation Z. This type of research is a qualitative approach with a literature review method, this approach is chosen to evaluate, identify and synthesize relevant research related to the paradigm of social interaction in generation Z in the context of globalization, data was collected from several scientific articles published in databases such as Googke Scholer, Scopus, and Springer. The main focus in this study is the literature published in the last five years. The results of this study show that; 1) The Impact of Social Media on the Formation of Social Identity of Generation Z, namely; a) social media facilitates social exploration and pressure such as beauty standards, social validation, and self-comparison; b) the stress exerted affects mental health such as social anxiety and emotional isolation; 2) the transformation of values in the era of globalization, namely; 1) Generation Z uses the media as a form of social identity through Self-Presentation; 2) Generation Z focuses more on individualism and global values than local culture; 3) mental and emotional challenges in the social injunction of Generation Z, namely; 1) loss of relevance to local culture; 2) dependence on social media.
