IDENTITAS SOSIAL MASYARAKAT MELAYU DELI PADA FILM DOKUMENTER KAMPUNG KUNYIT

Abstract

The research entitled The Social Identity of the Deli Malay Society in the Documentary Film of Kampung Kunyit. This film displays the description of the social identity of the Deli Malay community in North Sumatra Province. In addition, film is an art form that contains information and entertainment. It contains a representation or meaning of what is shown. Lately, there are many films that contain messages of ideology or identity, so at this time filmmakers offer films with a variety of genres. The purpose of this research is to find out the picture of identity that is shown through a documentary film entitled Kampung Kunyit. While the method used in this study used a qualitative descriptive method. The focus of this research is to reveal the picture of social identity in the documentary Kampung Kunyit. While the theory used in this study uses Representation which was popularized by Stuart Hall. The results obtained from this study are the representation of the cognitive component, the representation of the evaluative component, and the representation of the emotional component.
