Abstract

This paper discusses the analysis of conflicts that occur between online motorcycle taxi groups and debt collectors who have problems with identity narratives as triggers and accelerators of conflict. This research is qualitative with analytical descriptive sources from various literatures and news pages that discuss it, and analyzed using social identity theory and typology of violence. The dynamics of the conflict originated from a personal case between an online motorcycle taxi and a group of debt collectors that triggered a dispute between two groups of people with occupational backgrounds and ethnic identities. Identity issues arise because each group participates in disputes based on the solidarity of their social identity. In addition, there are prejudices and stereotypes that arise as a result of latent problems caused by cultural and structural violence. It is hoped that incidents like this can be avoided by means of early detection and mitigation of conflicts as well as efforts to assimilate between communities with different social identities
