Assistance to farmer groups on the slopes of Arjuno in implementing water and soil conservation with the Wanafarma System
Main Article Content
Abstract
The land conditions on the slopes of Mount Arjuno have a rolling topography. Plateaus and valleys with varying slopes affect water conditions and soil fertility. Therefore, environmental sustainability needs to be carried out through conservation efforts. The service method uses observation, lectures, and discussion methods. The materials provided include medicinal plants of the rhizome type, growing media, and polybags. This community service activity aims to support the sustainability of clean water sources and maintain soil fertility on the slopes of Arjuno Mount. In the land conditions on the slopes of Mount Arjuno, the tree conditions are irregular so vegetative conservation techniques can be applied. This technique has advantages such as being environmentally friendly, naturally improving soil structure, increasing land productivity, and lower maintenance costs. Vegetative conservation can use the agroforestry wanafarma system. This technique combines forest plants (wana) and medicinal plants (farma) on the same land. This technique provides dual benefits for water and soil conservation as well as the production of medicinal plants
