Abstrak
This paper aims to look at academic ethics from the perspective of idealism and pragmatism. Therefore, academic ethics is a moral foundation that guides behavior and practice in the academic world. In this context, idealism is often considered the main principle that encourages integrity, honesty and responsibility in academic activities. However, amidst the increasingly strong pressures of pragmatism, such as demands for publications, career competition, and the need to obtain research funding, idealistic values are often marginalized. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods. This research introduces an Islamic educational perspective that emphasizes values such as honesty, trust, kindness), justice in the context of academic ethics. These values provide a strong moral framework for facing the challenges of pragmatism in an academic environment. By integrating Islamic educational values, idealism in academic ethics can be strengthened, so as to maintain academic integrity and credibility. This paper explores how idealism and pragmatism interact in the academic environment, as well as how Islamic educational values can strengthen commitment to high ethical standards. By highlighting emerging ethical challenges and efforts to maintain ethical standards, this research shows that a balance between idealism and pragmatism, enriched by Islamic educational values, is key to maintaining credibility and public trust in academic institutions.
