https://jurnal-lp2m.umnaw.ac.id/index.php/JP2SH/article/view/4372

Marriage in Batak Toba culture is sacred, not only binding two individuals but also the extended family. This bond has social and cultural consequences, especially for women who become widows. The status of widows in Batak Toba society has its own dynamics, influenced by customs, religion, and social norms. The decision to remarry or remain single is complex because of cultural and religious factors that shape their perceptions of second marriages. This study analyzes the perspectives of Batak Toba Christian widows on marriage in the context of culture and religion. Using a qualitative approach and phenomenological method, this study explores the experiences of Christian widows in Urung Kompas Village, Rantauprapat City. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results of the study show that the decision of widows to remarry or not is influenced by culture and religion. Although Christianity gives freedom to remarry, customs and social expectations often make it difficult. Many widows experience a dilemma between religious beliefs and cultural norms. This shows the relationship between culture and religion in shaping views on second marriages. It is hoped that society will appreciate their choices more and provide support for the decisions they make.
Anastecia Siagian

https://jurnal-lp2m.umnaw.ac.id/index.php/JP2SH/article/view/4420

This research analyzes the “Married is Scary” phenomenon from the perspective of the Rational Choice Theory developed by James Coleman. This phenomenon reflects the fear and apprehension of individuals towards the institution of marriage, which is increasing among modern society. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis method, this study examines the factors that influence individuals in making the decision to marry or avoid marriage. The results show that individuals tend to do a cost-benefit calculation before making the decision to marry, considering economic, social and emotional aspects. Factors such as economic instability, social expectations, and personal or environmental experiences contribute to the fear of marriage. Within the framework of Rational Choice Theory, individuals act in their own self-interest by assessing the benefits and risks of marriage before making a decision. This study concludes that “Married is Scary” is a social phenomenon that is not only influenced by individual factors but also by broader social dynamics. Therefore, a deeper understanding of these factors can help in designing policies or strategies to address the fear of marriage in modern society.
Mohammad IrvanMuhammad Retsa Rizaldi MujayapuraMirna Nur Alia Abdullah

https://jurnal-lp2m.umnaw.ac.id/index.php/JP2SH/article/view/4526

This type of research aims to determine the transformation of the role of education in shaping Social Mobility and Social Stratification This type of research is a qualitative approach with the Library Research method, data collected from several scientific articles published in databases such as Googke scholer, scopus, and springer. The results of this study show that; 1) Transformation of the role of education in the form of social mobility; Education is still relevant as a tool for social mobility, especially for those who have quality access. However, its success was influenced by economic, social, and cultural capital. Transformations such as digitalization and new curricula make the role of education now more complex and selective.; 2) whether social mobility is currently still effective as a means of social mobility or actually strengthens social stratification; Education is not always effective as a means of social mobility because there are still gaps in access, quality, and opportunities between groups, education systems tend to reproduce social stratification through symbolic selection, institutional quality inequality, and structural bias. Without equal distribution and alignment efforts, education can actually strengthen the existing social class structure. The results of this study can be a reflection for policymakers, educators, and the public to be more aware that improving education also means improving social inequality.
Muh. https://jurnal-lp2m.umnaw.ac.id/index.php/JP2SH/article/view/5958

Cultural identity is the distinctive characteristics, values, and collective expressions that distinguish a group of people. However, globalization has not only facilitated the exchange of information but also eroded the boundaries of cultural identity. History lessons, which should be a bulwark of cultural identity, are instead considered boring by students. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the strategy of a deep learning approach in high school history teaching to strengthen cultural identity. This study employed library methods with a descriptive, qualitative approach, utilizing both primary and secondary data sources. The results show that the deep learning approach in history teaching emphasizes the principles of mindful, meaningful, and enjoyable learning experiences. By integrating the eight dimensions of the graduate profile, this approach yields a comprehensive learning framework that aligns with current demands. One of the primary strategies for implementing deep learning is through problem-based projects and the use of technology, which encourage students to engage in solving real-life problems. This approach not only encourages students to memorize historical facts but also to understand, apply, and reflect on historical knowledge in their daily lives. Overall, deep learning in history teaching at the high school level has great potential to strengthen cultural identity.
Okhaifi PrasetyoAulia RahmanSupiyah

The Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon among teenagers has become one of the factors that influences habits or imitation of activities that are considered correct, especially among junior high school (SMP) students. This phenomenon often has a negative impact on mental health, one of which is an increase in self-injury behavior. Data was obtained through a qualitative approach using the interview method and strengthened by the literature study method by comparing several journals, theses and articles related to the phenomenon being studied, with the qualifications of junior high school teenagers aged 12-15 years. Interviews were conducted online with three teenagers who were aware of self-injury behavior and had a history of self-injury in the last six months to strengthen the results of the literature study. The results show that self-injury behavior is triggered by the influence of social media and the inability to manage negative emotions. Forms of self-injury found by researchers include cutting the wrist with a cutter (barcode) or needle, hitting walls and floors, and peeling the skin of the lips. This research emphasizes the importance of interventions that focus on developing emotional regulation skills, positive social support. This research also aims to sensitize related parties such as parents, teachers and the wider community to play an important role in creating a safe and comfortable environment for teenagers so that they can pay more attention to teenagers' mental health and provide support so that teenagers can be wiser in managing their emotions in a more positive direction.

Tiara Angelina AbdullahMuhammad Retsa Rizaldi Rizaldi

This research aims to examine the basic concepts and dynamics of student development in the context of 21st-century education. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach based on a literature study of relevant academic sources. The research results show that the development of 21st-century learners not only includes cognitive, socio-emotional, and moral aspects but also critical thinking skills, creativity, communication, collaboration, and digital literacy. Classic developmental theories such as Piaget, Vygotsky, and Erikson remain foundational, but they need to be adapted to the dynamics of globalization and technological advancements. The curriculum must be designed based on active, collaborative experiences, and oriented towards character strengthening. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of curriculum renewal, the enhancement of teachers' pedagogical and digital competencies, and the integration of technology in learning to shape adaptive and competent learners in the digital era.
Yahya Rafi Sya'baniMelly Indrayani Galuh Meita PutriFadinda Syifa FaozanWina Mustikaati

The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation studies which were then analyzed using a data analysis process through three stages of data analysis by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that effective social interventions involve local community empowerment, human resource training, cultural preservation, and collaboration between government, private sector, and local communities. The community-based tourism development model is considered strategic in creating sustainability and a sense of ownership of tourist destinations. This study concludes that the success of tourism development in Siompu District is largely determined by inclusive social interventions, tourism education and training, and structured promotion. The obstacles in tourism development include limited infrastructure, lack of public facilities, lack of transportation and accommodation facilities, limited human resources (HR) of local communities, and lack of access to digital-based marketing. Recommendations are directed at strengthening community capacity and synergy between actors in the tourism ecosystem to improve local welfare and regional competitiveness
Ati Mustika, Kaharuddin, Jamaluddin Arifin

https://jurnal-lp2m.umnaw.ac.id/index.php/JP2SH/article/view/4676

This study aims to examine the role of character education in shaping students' positive attitudes and moral values in the digital era. The research employs a meta-analysis method by collecting and analyzing five relevant journal articles. The findings indicate that character education is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by digitalization, which significantly affects students' behavior and moral development, particularly at the elementary school level. While technology offers positive impacts such as easy access to information and enhanced learning media, it also brings negative consequences like addiction, individualism, and a decline in social values. Therefore, collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents is essential in instilling and strengthening character values through appropriate learning strategies and supervision. Character education is expected to mitigate the negative effects of technology and shape a generation that is intellectually capable and morally grounded.
Manda Azzahra, Dinda Fania Ardhini, Fathun Najah SR Utami Dwika Sari, Haura Nabila, Wariyati

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Senior High Schools aims to provide flexibility to schools and teachers in developing more contextual, project-based learning and strengthening student character and competence. This research aims to identify the main challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum, especially in the aspects of teacher readiness, availability of facilities and infrastructure, and policy support. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, school principals, and education staff, observation of the learning process, and analysis of related documents. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns in the informants' experiences regarding curriculum implementation. The research results show that the main obstacles in implementing the Independent Curriculum include a lack of adequate training for teachers, limited supporting infrastructure, and high administrative burdens. In addition, the gap in readiness between schools with adequate and limited resources further widens disparities in the implementation of this curriculum. Even though the government has provided supporting platforms such as Merdeka Mengajar, their use is still limited due to lack of access and ongoing training. In conclusion, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum still faces various challenges that need to be overcome through improving the quality of training, providing supporting facilities, and simplifying administrative burdens. Synergy is needed between the government, schools and teaching staff so that the Independent Curriculum can be implemented effectively and evenly in all high schools in Indonesia.
Damaris Sinaga
