ANALISIS NILAI KARAKTER TOKOH PADA NOVEL PARA PRIYAYI KARYA UMAR KAYAM DAN RELEVANSINYA DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER SISWA SMA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis nilai-nilai karakter tokoh yang terdapat pada Novel Para Priyayi Karya Umar Kayam. Novel Para Priyayi dipilih karena relevan dengan kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia. Novel ini belatarbelakang kebudayaan Jawa, dan situasi yang menggambarkan kondisi Indonesia dari sebelum masa kemerdekaan hingga masa revolusi sekarang. Novel ini bercerita tentang bagaimana perjalanan Sastrodarono dan keluarganya dalam memperoleh dan mempertahankan kedudukan sebagai priyayi, dimana hal tersebut bukanlah hal yang mudah. Nilai-nilai yang terdapat pada novel para priyayi ini kemudian dianalisis dan dikaitkan dengan pembentukan karakter siswa SMA di zaman sekarang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi dokumentasi kepustakaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content). Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada 13 nilai karakter yang terdapat pada novel Para Priyayi karya Umar Kayam antara lain: nilai peduli sosial, nilai mandiri, nilai rasa ingin tahu, nilai kreatif, nilai menghargai prestasi, nilai kerja keras, nilai jujur, nilai bersahabat atau komunikatif, nilai cinta tanah air, nilai demokratis, nilai religius, nilai tanggung jawab dan nilai toleransi. Relevansi nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Para Priyayi dengan pembentukan karakter siswa SMA yaitu dilihat dari lingkungan pembentuk karakter. Lingkungan pembentuk karakter tersebut terdiri dari lingkungan keluarga, sekolah, dan masyarakat.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the character values contained in the Novel Para Priyayi by Umar Kayam. Novel Para priyayi was chosen because it is relevant to the lives of Indonesian people. The novel is set in Javanese culture, and a situation that depicts the condition of Indonesia from before independence to the present revolution. This novel tells the story of how the journey of Sastrodarono and his family in obtaining and maintaining the position of priyayi, which is not an easy thing. The values contained in the Novel Para Priyayi are then analyzed and associated with the formation of the character of high school students today. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used is literature documentation studies. This research uses content analysis techniques. From this research, it can be concluded that there are 13 character values contained in the novel Para Priyayi by Umar Kayam, including: the value of social care, the value of independence, the value of curiosity, the value of creativity, the value of appreciating achievements, the value of hard work, the value of honesty, the value of friendly or communicative, the value of love for the motherland, the value of democratic, the value of religious, the value of responsibility and the value of tolerance. The relevance of character education values in Novel Para Priyayi to the character building of high school students is seen from the character-building environment. The character-building environment consists of family, school, and community environments.
